I have helped many students with C and C++.  Many of my students have found themselves overwhelmed in courses for which the unmentioned prerequisite was years of programming experience.

I teach my students how to develop code in a robust manner, so that they will not spend those interminable hours debugging.  A great deal of unpleasant debugging time can be saved by not "enbugging" in the first place.

I teach the proper methods of robust program development, which are not taught in most college programming courses.
