Adult Independent Study Tutoring

I have taught many adults who are studying outside the framework of a school program.  Independent study as an adult can be a very rewarding experience.  I ask the student to work for a minimum of four hours on material that I suggest and provide, for every one hour spent with me.

My adult students understand that I am the guide but they are the ones on the journey.

Many people ask me how many meetings with me they will need to achieve a certain goal.  Usually people ask me that question before I have met them and had a chance to assess where they are starting from and where they want to go.

Nevertheless, a very serviceable answer, which I supply here, is this: Five one-hour meetings with me, together with four additional hours working alone for each hour with me, amounts to 25 hours of serious guided study.  Twenty-five hours will go a long way and will provide an excellent start on the path towards your educational goals.
